Loose Tea

Tea leaves are sorted and graded. Once enough of a certain grade has been collected it can be packaged, either in tea chests or foil lined paper sack. The chests are made of plywood and lined with aluminum foil to keep moisture out. The foil lined paper sacks do the same; they are just less protected from being damaged.

Tea Bags

Loose tea or teabagsTea for teabags are produced using the CTC method: Cut, Tear & Curl. Leaves are put through a series of cylindrical rollers with hundreds of small sharp “teeth” that Cut, Tear, and Curl. This creates a smaller granular type leaf, ideal for brewing from tea bags.

Many will say that there is no difference in taste between a brew made from teabags and loose tea.
